Railways announce 112 Onam special train trips; full list of services from Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mangaluru

CHENNAI: Indian Railways and Southern Railway have announced 112 Onam special train trips to manage the heavy passenger rush during the Onam festival season.

Every year, thousands of Malayalis, including employees, students and tourists, travel to Kerala from neighbouring states and major metropolitan cities across the country for Onam. To reduce festival-season congestion, clear waiting lists and ensure smoother travel, Southern Railway has announced several special trains and extended the operation of existing special services in coordination with South Central Railway, South Western Railway and South Eastern Railway.

The special services will primarily operate during the peak festival period from August 14 to September 6, 2026. A total of 112 Onam special train trips have been officially announced.

Southern Railway intra-zone specials (38 trips)

Train No. 06119 (Dr M.G.R. Chennai Central–Kollam): Will run on Wednesdays from August 19 to September 2, 2026, via Arakkonam, Jolarpettai, Erode, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kottayam (3 trips).

Train No. 06120 (Kollam–Dr M.G.R. Chennai Central): Will run on Thursdays from August 20 to September 3, 2026 (3 trips).

Train No. 06110 (Thiruvananthapuram Central–Tambaram): Will run on Wednesdays from August 19 to September 2, 2026, via Kollam, Punalur, Sengottai, Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram and Chengalpattu (3 trips).

Train No. 06109 (Tambaram–Thiruvananthapuram Central): Will run on Thursdays from August 20 to September 3, 2026 (3 trips).

Train No. 06126 (Mangaluru Central–Chennai Egmore): Will run on Mondays from August 17 to August 31, 2026, via Kannur, Shoranur, Palakkad, Podanur, Erode, Jolarpettai, Arakkonam and Perambur (3 trips).

Train No. 06125 (Chennai Egmore–Mangaluru Central): Will run on Tuesdays from August 18 to September 1, 2026 (3 trips).

Train No. 06117 (Dr M.G.R. Chennai Central–Kollam): Will run on Thursdays and Saturdays from August 15 to September 5, 2026, via Arakkonam Junction, Jolarpettai Junction, Erode Junction, Podanur Junction, Palakkad Junction, Thrissur, Ernakulam Junction and Kottayam (7 trips).

Train No. 06118 (Kollam–Dr M.G.R. Chennai Central): Will run on Fridays and Sundays from August 16 to September 6, 2026 (7 trips).

Train No. 06093 (Thiruvananthapuram North–Mangaluru): Will run on Wednesdays from August 12 to September 2, 2026, via Kannur, Shoranur Junction, Thrissur, Ernakulam Junction and Kottayam (3 trips).
