‘Implementation progress to be examined every three months and reviewed every six months’

KOZHIKODE: The decisions taken at the extended state committee meeting of the CPM are aimed at further strengthening the party both organisationally and politically, said party state secretary M V Govindan. He also said that the party has decided to organise struggles against all communal forces.

Popular protests will be launched against the stances of the central government and the anti-people governance of the UDF administration, which is functioning in collusion with the BJP. He said the party would also lead a cultural movement to further strengthen the Left-oriented mindset in Kerala. He was speaking at a press meet following the extended state committee meeting.

The extended state committee has approved three resolutions. One of them is to organise a strong fight against communalism. Communal forces said that their next target was Kerala soon after the LDF government in Tripura was toppled. As part of this, the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are attacking the LDF in Kerala. A major movement needs to be organised in Kerala against both majority communalism and minority communalism that provides support to it. This was presented as one of the resolutions at the party’s extended state committee meeting.

Electricity has now become something difficult to obtain in Kerala. The government has been giving various explanations regarding the situation. There were no power cuts or load-shedding in Kerala during the past ten years. As the UDF approaches its first three months in power, they are singing the same old tune from the Oommen Chandy era. It is impossible to say at what time the power supply will be disrupted each day. People are facing considerable difficulties.

It has also been decided to organise popular protests against the policies of the Central government and against the UDF government, which, without raising any objections to those policies, is allegedly governing by making a deal with the BJP and adopting anti-people positions. The party has also decided to lead a cultural movement aimed at further strengthening the Left in Kerala. We will strongly move forward against the false propaganda being spread by the Enforcement Directorate against the party.
