THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain likely to intensify in various parts of the state on Friday. According to the latest radar image, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that moderate/heavy rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph are possible in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
Expected impacts
Traffic congestion may occur due to waterlogging, blurred visibility on main roads
Waterlogging, flooding is possible in low-lying areas and river banks
Falling of trees may lead to power disruption, accident
Partial damage to houses and huts likely
Chances of landslides and mudslide
Rain is likely to adversely affect humans and livestock and cause damage to unprotected structures in the coastal area

Heavy rain is expected in all districts except Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram today. A yellow alert has been issued for these three districts. An orange alert has been issued for the other districts. Educational institutions in Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kasaragod, Alappuzha and Kottayam and in Vadakara and Thamarassery taluks of Kozhikode will remain closed due to rain.
