MUMBAI: India have received a major boost ahead of their two-Test series against Sri Lanka, with star pacer Jasprit Bumrah receiving fitness clearance to take part in the tour.
Bumrah has been cleared to play by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence following a final assessment by the medical team monitoring his fitness. The pacer had been rested after suffering an injury to his left knee during the ODI series against England.

The latest assessment concluded that Bumrah had fully recovered from the injury, clearing the way for his return to the Test squad.
At the time of announcing the squad, the BCCI had specifically stated that both Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan would be considered for the final XI only after completing their fitness requirements.
With concerns over Bumrah’s injury now eased, expectations have grown that the fast bowler will feature in India’s Test tour of Sri Lanka.

The first Test between India and Sri Lanka will begin in Galle on August 15. With the two-match series being an important part of the World Test Championship campaign, Bumrah’s availability is expected to provide a significant boost to India’s bowling attack.
