Noufal, bar attack in Vembayam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more succumbed to the burns sustained in the petrol attack at the Sreevalsam bar in Vembayam. The dead identified as Noufal of Vembayam died while undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital. With this, the death toll has risen to four.

Noufal, who sustained burns, jumped the wall and fell into a temple pond, which is two kilometres away from the bar. Seeing this, the local residents rushed him to the hospital in Kanyakulangara. He had sustained more than 50% burns. The initial conclusion is that his death was caused by an infection that he contracted after jumping into the pond without seeking treatment. His life could have been saved if he was taken to the hospital immediately.

The attack was following a dispute that broke out while consuming liquor. The first one to die first was Nawas and then Aneesh who set fire. Ratheesh, of Thekkada Undappara, who was in the bar with them, was later found hanging at home.
