THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Another person was taken into custody in connection with the murder of 17-year-old AD Abhiram in Sreekaryam in Thiruvananthapuram. Aishwarya, a native of Akkulam and a female friend of the goon Umar, was taken into custody. Reports indicate that she was aware of the crime.
The police had previously arrested three individuals in connection with the case: a 17-year-old boy, his female friend Anantha (18), and a man named Umar (21) with a criminal background. The 17-year-old is the first accused, Umar is the second, and Anantha is the third. The murder was motivated by a grudge stemming from a romantic relationship. It was the 17-year-old who strangled Abhiram to death using a belt, while Umar was called in to help dispose of the body.
Reports indicate that Abhiram was lured to Pangappara using Anantha’s phone. The 17-year-old had originally planned to kill Abhiram’s friend; the intention was to threaten Abhiram into summoning the friend to the location. However, the friend did not show up, which led to the gang targeting Abhiram instead.
Abhiram left home around 3:00 PM on Sunday, saying he was going to meet a friend. He was planning to attend a wedding ceremony with his father. As he failed to return on time, Abhiram’s father attended the wedding ceremony alone. However, the young boy didn't return home even at night, which forced the family to file a missing person complaint with the police.
The accused confessed to summoning Abhiram, kicking him to the ground, and then strangling him to death. They further admitted to placing his body in a sack and abandoning it in a deserted, overgrown area near the Peroor Junction in Pangappara. The police subsequently recovered the body.
