AMARAVATI: Severe cyclonic storm 'Murasu' made landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the cyclone is moving at a speed of up to 110 km/h. 19 flights and 15 train services were cancelled. Due to the influence of 'Murasu', Tamil Nadu is experiencing heavy rainfall at the moment.
Puducherry is also receiving heavy rain. According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone—with wind speeds of 120 km/h—moved in a north-northwesterly direction and made landfall near Ongole in the Prakasam district, between Nellore and Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh, between 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM today. The 'severe' cyclonic storm began its landfall process near Ongole in the early hours of the morning.
The Meteorological Department announced the presence of a cyclonic circulation over southern Kerala and its adjacent areas. Another cyclonic circulation is also present in the east-central Arabian Sea, off the coasts of Karnataka and southern Maharashtra. Due to these factors, there is a possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, along with strong winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h, in isolated locations from November 2nd to 6th.
A yellow alert has been issued today for the districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
