NEW DELHI: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued nine notices to Swiggy Instamart over allegations that it supplied expired and spoiled food products to customers. The regulator said the complaints point to violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The main complaints from customers allege that expired, spoiled, and contaminated food items were delivered through the quick-commerce platform Swiggy Instamart. Based on these complaints, FSSAI has asked the company to submit an explanation. The regulator has also warned that legal action may be taken if the company fails to address the issues.

The notices also mention complaints that products such as Healthify Whey Protein and NOICE Homestyle Madras Mixture were delivered after their expiry dates. In another complaint, customers alleged that eggs were delivered in an expired and rotten condition and had a foul smell. Some customers also claimed that even after filing complaints, they did not receive a proper response or a satisfactory resolution. According to the complaints, in some cases, the company only refunded the money without fully resolving the issue.
