MAVELIKKARA: Three additional special train services have been sanctioned between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram via Kottayam to meet the heavy passenger rush during the Onam season.
The special trains will stop at major stations including Changanassery, Chengannur, Mavelikkara and Sasthamkotta, considering the demands of passengers from the Mavelikkara Lok Sabha constituency. The additional services were sanctioned following the intervention of Mavelikkara MP Kodikunnil Suresh.
Suresh said he had met the Railway Minister and the Railway Board Chairman in New Delhi and requested additional train services to Kerala during the Onam season. He said several passengers and passengers' organisations from the constituency had also sought more services.
According to the MP, these demands were brought to the attention of the Railway Ministry, following which three additional special train services were sanctioned.
