Sadya fails to arrive even after thalikettu, catering firm cheats families, guests served food from hotels

KOTTAYAM: A catering team failed to deliver food for a wedding function, prompting the bride’s family to file a complaint against Udayam Catering, a firm in Kanjirappally, and its owner, Vishnu. The food was not delivered at two wedding functions held at Chotti in Mundakayam and Kanjikuzhi in Kottayam. After waiting till noon without getting the food, the families arranged meals from nearby hotels and served them to the wedding guests.

A contract of Rs one lakh was given to the catering firm for food, stage and other arrangements for the wedding of a woman from Kanjikuzhi. The contractors had, in turn, entrusted arrangements such as the stage and sound system to another person. When the food, including welcome drinks, failed to arrive, the family contacted the catering firm and was told that the vehicle carrying the food had met with an accident. When they called again later, they were told that the food had not been prepared and could not be delivered.

For the wedding held at Chotti in Mundakayam, the bride’s family from Panakkachira had entered into a contract of Rs 1.4 lakh with the firm. The catering company was also entrusted with the food to be served on the eve of the wedding. The food for the previous day was delivered to the house. However, not even drinking water had been arranged for the wedding.

When the family initially called Vishnu, he said that the food would be delivered shortly. However, when they called again later, he did not pick up the phone. Udayam Catering had promoted its services using influencers as well.
