THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM General Secretary M A Baby has alleged that the actions being taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the monthly pay-off case have a political agenda. He said the CPM is not a party whose leaders would join the BJP out of fear of the ED.
“The ED is seriously mistaken if it thinks the CPM is a party whose leaders will join the BJP out of fear of the agency,” Baby said.
Baby also accused the Congress leadership of double standards for celebrating and supporting the ED and other central investigative agencies when they target the CPM leadership for political reasons.
He said he would also like to know how the AICC leadership views the “inappropriate and uncivilised double standards” of the Congress leadership in Kerala.
Baby also mocked the ED, alleging that the agency was writing things based on its imagination. “Now, we may have to start saying ‘as written by the ED’. The ED is imaginatively writing one thing after another,” he said.
He compared this to the way people speak about the works of writers such as M T Vasudevan Nair and K T Muhammad.
“Many new sections capable of imaginatively writing various things are entering our lives. I am keeping this in mind when I make these remarks,” Baby said.
He also alleged that the ED had turned into a group of people committing crimes. His remarks came while criticising the agency’s actions in connection with the monthly pay-off case and the information emerging as part of the investigation.
