THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president and MLA Rajeev Chandrasekhar has raised concerns over a recent meeting between former Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala at the latter’s residence. In a statement, Rajeev Chandrasekhar noted that the meeting has sparked suspicions, especially given the ongoing investigation into the Sabarimala gold theft case. He pointed out that doubts intensified after the UDF government shifted from its initial stance of demanding a CBI probe into the matter.
“This meeting took place while the investigation into the highly sensitive Sabarimala-related cases is underway. Therefore, Ramesh Chennithala and Kadakampally Surendran have a responsibility to clarify the purpose of the meeting before the people of Kerala,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.
He alleged that doubts naturally arise over whether the meeting was intended to influence the investigation, alter the course of the case, or develop political understandings. He demanded that both leaders disclose the details of their meeting to clear the concerns.
“The meeting is being viewed as another example of a secret political understanding between the Left and the UDF. It is essential that the truth comes out in the matter related to Sabarimala devotees. Investigation officers should not face any political pressure or interference,” he said.
“The government must ensure that the investigation into the Sabarimala gold case proceeds in a completely independent and transparent manner. The state government’s continued reluctance to allow a probe by central agencies, along with this meeting, has increased suspicions,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar added.
