THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KAAPA case accused and BJP councillor R Sugathan was remanded in police custody. The Nedumangad Magistrate's Court today remanded Sugathan in custody till 5.30 pm. The police requested the court to remand the accused, citing that the weapons used by Sugathan to attack two people have not yet been recovered. Sugathan is accused of attacking two youngsters in a fight that broke out during a temple festival.
Meanwhile, Sugathan told the court that the police physically assaulted him in the vehicle while being taken for medical examination after reaching Thiruvananthapuram. The court also asked whether a police team from Vattiyoorkavu accompanied Sugathan for medical examination. It was in this context that Sugathan was remanded in custody for only four hours. After taking him to the temple premises and collecting evidence, Sugathan should be produced in court.
