KANNUR: Dr Ram, who was arrested in connection with the death of Anjarakandy Dental College student Nithin Raj, will be produced before the court later today after completing medical examinations. Crime Branch SP K.V. Venugopal said the accused has been brought to Kannur and is being questioned in detail.

Dr Ram was arrested by a special Crime Branch team after the Supreme Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. According to the investigating officer, the accused had been hiding in different locations across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. He said more details would be revealed only after the questioning is completed. Venugopal added that since the matter is currently before the court, he cannot disclose further details about the investigation.

Reports said Dr Ram had grown a beard to change his appearance while remaining in hiding. He was arrested while hiding in the Kodagu district of Karnataka. The arrest came on the day the High Court was scheduled to hear a petition filed by Nithin Raj's family over the delay in arresting the accused. During an earlier hearing, the High Court had sharply criticised the delay, questioning why police had taken so long to arrest a person whose anticipatory bail had already been rejected by the Supreme Court.
