Made obscene and derogatory remarks; police register case against RSS leader T G Mohandas

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered a case against RSS leader T.G. Mohandas over his controversial remarks against students who protested in Delhi over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The City Cyber Police registered the case based on a complaint filed by AIYF leader Jismon. An FIR has been registered against Mohandas.

The complaints were received by IG P. Prakash, who was overseeing the inquiry, on Tuesday. He later directed the City Police Commissioner to register a case. Police have booked Mohandas under charges related to making abusive remarks and inciting violence.

Earlier, Deputy Speaker Shanimol Usman had demanded immediate action against Mohandas. She said a case should be registered against him without delay for spreading obscene and inflammatory content. She also alleged that there was a deliberate attempt to spread hatred in society and said such remarks should not be tolerated.

Apart from AIYF, the SFI, Youth Congress and Youth League also filed complaints against Mohandas. The controversy erupted after Mohandas said that, if he had been in charge, he would have given the protesters three chances to disperse. He added that if they failed to do so, he would have ordered them to be shot. He also faced criticism for his remarks about women, claiming that some women "like rape." His comments had triggered widespread criticism and protests.
