Police vehicle claims life of Thrissur teen; companion fights for survival

THRISSUR: One of the two school students who sustained severe injuries after their scooter was hit by a police vehicle in Aloor has succumbed to his wounds.

The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Juvin Raju, son of Raju, a resident of Anathadam in Aloor. Juvin breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi. Meanwhile, his companion, Ananthakrishnan, who was also severely injured in the crash, remains in critical condition and is fighting for his life at the hospital.
The accident occurred on June 15 at Kadalichira. According to reports, the duo was travelling on an electric scooter from the Potta area toward Irinjalakuda. The mishap took place when a jeep carrying a District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) team rammed into the scooter from behind just as the teenagers were attempting to negotiate a right turn.
