CHENNAI: The war of words between the ruling party and the opposition in Tamil Nadu politics is intensifying. Remarks made by Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin against Chief Minister Vijay have become a major topic of discussion on social media and elsewhere. The comments have sparked controversy as they are being seen as crossing the limits of political criticism and entering Vijay's personal life.

“Vijay’s statement that the farmers’ protest was encouraged by opposition parties is condemnable. He made remarks that questioned the dignity of farmers. Tamil Nadu knows the story of a wife coming to the Chengalpattu court in search of her husband,” Udhayanidhi Stalin posted on X.

The remarks were made in connection with Vijay and his wife Sangeetha’s reported divorce case proceedings at the Chengalpattu court.
