Couple attempts suicide outside High Court; both in critical condition

KOCHI: A couple allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison inside an ambulance parked outside the Kerala High Court on Tuesday morning. The victims, ambulance driver Vinu and his wife Bincy, were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

The incident took place at around 6.30 am. According to the suicide note, the couple took the extreme step alleging that an attempt was being made to implicate Vinu in a false sexual assault case. The note alleged that some police officers and a judge, who is a relative of the complainant, were trying to frame Vinu in the case. It also claimed that the complainant had demanded 15 sovereigns of gold to settle the case. A video believed to have been recorded by the couple inside the ambulance has also surfaced.

The suicide note is also said to mention the names of several police officers and the judge. The sexual assault complaint against Vinu was filed by a woman who was reportedly his former friend.
