KOCHI: The protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the 'SIR' (Systematic Irregularity/Issue) controversy, started in Kochi on Saturday. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and activist-actor Prakash Raj arrived in Kochi to participate in the event dubbed 'Jantar Mantar @ Kochi'.
The protest is taking place at Rajendra Maidan. A protest march was also organised from Marine Drive to Rajendra Maidan. Sebastian Paul—a leader aligned with the Left—along with several senior journalists, is present on the stage. Film personalities are also among those leading the protest.
CJP shared news of the Kochi protest on its X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by the slogan: "Protect Democracy, Cancel SIR." In addition to Dipke, other participants include CJP South Zone leader Vijay Mallanki and National Secretary Afreen Nawaz.
