KOCHI: A prominent actress was arrested in connection with the brutal assault of a doctor in Kochi. The arrested individual is Athulya Chandran, an actress and a lawyer. According to the complaint, the doctor was lured under the pretext of seeking medical treatment and subsequently assaulted. A total of three people, including the actress, were arrested in the case.

The incident in question took place last Tuesday. A 41-year-old doctor was the victim of the assault. Athulya and the doctor were friends. Athulya contacted the doctor by phone, asking him to come over to her apartment, claiming that her mother’s younger sister was experiencing some health issues. Athulya resided on the third floor of an apartment complex in the Ponnurunni area.

According to the doctor's complaint, 12 people—including an actress—were present in the apartment when the doctor arrived. A man named Bibin is the first accused in the case. The complaint states that the group made the doctor sit on a chair and then assaulted him. In the complaint, it is further alleged that they stole items worth three lakh rupees, including the doctor's phone and watch. The Kadavanthra police are investigating the case. The police suspect a 'honey trap' angle and have intensified the search for the nine individuals who are yet to be apprehended.
