19-year-old student dies after bike collides with Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar's car

PATHANAMTHITTA: A college student died after a car carrying devaswom board president K Jayakumar collided with a bike at Koodal Junction in Konni. The victim is Krishna Nandu (19), a student of IHRD College Kalanjoor. The accident happened Thursday morning at Koodal, an accident-prone area on the Punalur- Muvattupuzha state highway.

A bike ridden by the student lost control and crashed into the vehicle of the Devaswom Board President, who was traveling to Pathanamthitta for official purposes. Krishna Nandu, was on his way to the college in the morning. An elderly man suddenly jumped in front of the student's bike to cross the road. The bike, after hitting him, lost control and crashed under the Devaswom Board President's car, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The car then ran over Krishna Nandu's head, causing severe injuries. Although he was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Pathanapuram, his life could not be saved. The elderly man who was trying to cross the road did not sustain any major injuries. The devaswom board president, who was in the car, also escaped unhurt. Following the incident, K Jayakumar continued journey in another vehicle. Immediately after the accident, the Koodal Police and the locals jointly carried out the rescue operations and restored the traffic.
