THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala responded to the distasteful remarks about Fort Kochi made by a North Indian vlogger. Chennithala said freedom of expression must be exercised responsibly and should not be used as a tool to sow division or spread communal hatred within society.

Ramesh Chennithala emphasised that attempts to incite communal suspicion and hatred through the dissemination of false propaganda regarding Varkala and Fort Kochi are being viewed with the utmost seriousness. The Home Department will take strict action against those who violate the law. He further confirmed that the Fort Kochi Police registered an FIR against the vlogger, Amrit Singh, in connection with this matter.

The police registered a case on Sunday against a North Indian vlogger who shared a video warning Kerala of a potential danger due to the rising population of Muslims. The case was filed against the vlogger, Amrit Singh, invoking sections 353(2) and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
