MUMBAI: A major development has emerged in the murder case of Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal, with Siya Goyal’s lover Chetan Chaudhary making new claims during police questioning. Chetan reportedly told investigators that Siya was unwilling to cancel her engagement with Ketan and leave with him. According to Chetan’s statement, Siya feared that eloping would bring shame to her family, and this concern allegedly led to the decision to eliminate Ketan.
Chetan also told police that Siya’s family was aware of their relationship but opposed it. He said Siya believed that running away with him would damage her family’s reputation and that killing Ketan was the only option left.
The incident took place on June 18. Initially, it was reported that Ketan Agarwal had accidentally fallen into a gorge while trekking with Siya at Lohagad Fort. Based on the initial information, Lonavala Rural Police had registered a case of accidental death.
However, the case took a dramatic turn after CCTV footage from the ticket counter area of Lohagad Fort revealed possible clues of a planned murder. The footage showed a person wearing a hoodie following Ketan and Siya during their visit. The person’s face was completely covered, and he was also wearing a headset. Police noticed that when Siya turned around during the trek, the person appeared to quickly sit down, allegedly to avoid being seen. Investigators grew suspicious about why the person was wearing a hoodie despite the intense heat on June 18.
The investigation later led police to Chetan Chaudhary. Police said further probe revealed that Ketan’s death was allegedly planned and executed by Siya and Chetan. The accused are currently under investigation.
