BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a woman and her grandson beat a 75-year-old woman to death over a property dispute. The dead has been identified as Jayamma. The police have arrested Jayamma's daughter Bhagyalakshmi and her grandson Vikas in connection with the incident.

The heinous crime was committed on the night of June 21. Initial investigation revealed that the woman and her grandson were addicted to alcohol and wanted to sell their property to fund their drinking habits. Jayamma had opposed this. When the fight between Jayamma and Bhagyalakshmi escalated, Vikas arrived and some unruly scenes were witnessed in the house. The two then beat her on her head with a wooden stick leading to her death. The two then concealed the crime and did not inform anyone.

Hours later, Vikas called his friend and asked him to come home with alcohol, and told him that his grandmother had died and that he was upset. When his friend arrived, he found Jayamma lying in a pool of blood. He immediately informed the police. The officers arrived and confirmed it as a murder. Bhagyalakshmi and Vikas were later arrested. The officers said that a detailed investigation is underway.
