CHANDIGARH: Several people were injured after a fire broke out on a running train in Punjab. The fire affected four coaches of the Karmabhoomi Express, which was travelling from Amritsar to New Jalpaiguri. The incident occurred near a field close to the Sarai Banjara railway station in Punjab.
Upon the outbreak of the fire, safety systems were activated, bringing the train to a halt. This allowed panicked passengers to exit the train and reach safety. The fire originated in the fifth coach from the engine and subsequently spread to the other coaches. Railway officials and rescue teams arrived at the scene promptly and initiated emergency operations. Reports indicate that the fire has now been completely brought under control. Preliminary assessments suggest a short circuit caused the fire; an investigation is underway to determine the exact reason.
