NEW DELHI: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has claimed that the image showing the crowd at the 'Chalo Delhi' mega rally organized by the INDIA bloc, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, was generated using AI.
Kiren alleged that the picture shared by Congress MP Vamshi Gaddam and other leaders to show the crowd at the rally was AI-generated. He also mocked the opposition, stating that they had to resort to using AI images to demonstrate a crowd. The mockery was expressed through his X (formerly Twitter) page. The INDIA bloc's rally was held at the Ramlila Maidan.
रामलीला मैदान में भारी भीड़ दिखाने के लिए, कांग्रेस पार्टी को कम से कम AI से बनी तस्वीर तो ठीक से तैयार करनी चाहिए थी।
Even the fake AI photo to show that Ramlila ground was full is not done properly by the fake narrative team of Congress Party! https://t.co/uBAf9NIPau

The Congress Party circulated fake pictures to show that the Ramlila Maidan was full. They don't even know how to generate an AI image properly, penned the union minister. Many people pointed out on their X pages that this image was AI-generated. The stage at the rally venue featured AI images of the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Moreover, some pointed out that the stage in the picture was different from the actual rally stage.
BJP leaders had alleged as early as Sunday night that the rally was a failure. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra mocked that 40 percent of the ground was deserted at the rally, which was claimed to have an attendance of 1 million (10 lakh) people, and that people left the ground while Rahul Gandhi was still speaking. He added that 7,000 out of the 28,000 chairs in the ground were left vacant.
