MUMBAI: Suryakumar Yadav responded on Instagram, wishing the new team well just hours after Shreyas Iyer was appointed as the captain of the Indian Twenty20 team. The player responded by sharing a picture of the new Twenty20 squad announced by the BCCI. "I wish this great group all the best for the challenges ahead," he wrote on Instagram. Suryakumar also expressed special congratulations to 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was selected for the team.

India won the last Twenty20 World Cup under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. However, Suryakumar Yadav was removed from the captaincy of the Indian Twenty20 cricket team following his poor individual performance in the World Cup and the IPL. Shreyas Iyer was selected as the Twenty20 captain for the tour of England and Ireland in the BCCI Apex Council meeting. Suryakumar scored just 242 runs from nine innings in the World Cup. His only major achievement was the 84 runs he scored against the United States.
