Two killed after tanker lorry crashes into parked lorry in Kannur, both vehicles catch fire

KANNUR: Two people were killed after a tanker lorry crashed into a lorry stationed at Mandoor near Pilathara in Kannur. The tragic incident happened at Mandoor in Pilathara, Kannur. The tanker lorry crashed into the rear of a lorry that had been parked after breaking down. The mechanic and his helper, who came to repair the lorry, are the two killed in the accident. The incident happened Monday morning at around 3.30 am.

The tanker lorry collided with the timber laden lorry parked on the roadside, following which both vehicles caught fire. The lorry was completely gutted in the fire. On being alerted, fire and rescue personnel and the police reached the spot and coordinated the rescue operations. The accident occurred on the Kannur–Pappinisseri–Payyannur road.
