KOCHI: Police sent yet another notice to YouTuber Nihad (Thoppi) to appear for questioning in a case registered over spreading obscene videos of his friends on social media. The Ernakulam Rural Cyber Police sent the notice. Thoppi is directed to appear for questioning next week. Earlier, the court had disposed of the anticipatory bail application of the YouTuber.
Earlier, Thoppi was given a notice to appear for questioning, but he did not turn up. Thoppi posted the obscene video of his friends after falling out with the gang. Thoppi also accused his friends of bringing drugs to his house.
His former friends then came forward alleging that Thoppi had sexually abused multiple girls and later settled the matter by paying them money. Friends have alleged in the video that Thoppi had sexually abused even minors. A video of one of the former gang members showing packets of ganja hidden in the cupboard from Thoppi’s room also surfaced on social media.
A lion’s share of Thoppi’s subscribers are school-going teens. Advocate Sreejith Perumana filed a complaint with the police after the obscene video went viral. In the complaint, State Police Chief Ravada Chandrasekhar ordered an investigation. The investigation is being conducted against Thoppi and his friends on charges of POCSO, drug abuse, mental and physical abuse, obscene propaganda, and cybercrimes.
