THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Right-wing political commentator T G Mohandas, who was arrested and granted bail for his controversial remarks in connection with the students protest in Delhi, will appear before the cyber police later today. Bail was granted to Mohandas after the court found that the Supreme Court guidelines requiring a notice to be issued before arrest had not been followed. The Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police arrested him from his house in Mattancherry without issuing a notice.

The court granted bail with strict conditions like he should appear before the investigating officer for three consecutive days from Tuesday, should appear before the investigating officer every Monday for two months and sign the register, must not repeat the same crime and must appear whenever the investigating officer asks. The police have sent a letter to META requesting to remove the controversial video.

Advocate Sasthamangalam Ajith, appearing for Mohandas, pointed in the court that the police did not issue a notice before the arrest. Bail was granted by the additional chief judicial magistrate Mithun Gopi. The police mentioned in the remand report that the accused might go into hiding if served with a notice. The court, however, did not accept this argument.
