THRISSUR: 50 sovereigns of gold were found stolen from a house at Peramangalam in the district. The theft took place at the house of Shakir, a textiles shop owner from Parappur. The gold was purchased for his daughter's wedding.
The thieves entered the house by breaking the back door. It is believed that more than 47 sovereigns of gold were stolen. Shakir and his family returned from the shop Friday morning at 1:30 am. The back door was then found broken. There is a field behind the house and a railway track beyond it.
The daughter's wedding was fixed to happen in October. Money kept in the other room was not found lost. A liquor bottle and remains of food were found near the house.
