THRISSUR: A woman who had taken a room at a lodge in Thrissur with her male friend was abducted and gangraped by a gang that arrived there posing as police officers. The woman of Tiruppur was subjected to gangrape. Her male friend was brutally assaulted, leaving his hands and legs injured, and was later abandoned at a hospital in Tamil Nadu.
A goonda team hired by the male friend’s wife is behind the attack. The police have arrested all the five accused in the case. The youth and the woman, both from Tiruppur, came to Thrissur and took a room at a lodge near the KSRTC bus stand. The youth’s wife, who was tracking his phone location, informed the hired gang about their whereabouts.
The five-member gang then arrived at the lodge posing as police officers and barged into their room. They tied the hands and legs of both, gagged them with cloth and took them to Tiruppur in a car. After brutally assaulting the youth in the car, they abandoned him outside a hospital in Tiruppur. Two from the gang then took the woman in another car and abused her sexually.
Tamil Nadu Police registered a case and then handed it over to Thrissur City Police. One of the accused was arrested from near the Nedumbassery airport during an investigation by the Thrissur Police. Based on information from him, the other accused were arrested from various places.
