Middle-aged man stripped naked, assaulted by mob for peeping into house

PATHANAMTHITTA: A middle-aged man was beaten up by a mob for peeping into a house. He was assaulted after stripping him naked and tying him up. He was attacked last Sunday at 11.30 pm in Ranni. The victim is Varghese Mathew (56) of Pullampally. The footage of the incident has been released. The perpetrators of the attack filmed the footage and shared it on social media.

The footage clearly shows people hitting Mathew hard on his face and kicking him on the ground. He can also be heard crying in the video that he did not come to steal. The incident took place just two kilometers away from Mathew's house.

The Ranni police arrived and took Mathew, who was lying in a pool of blood, to the Taluk Hospital. Mathew was later shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for further treatment. It is reported that he has sustained injuries, including on his head. Although he has given a statement that he has no complaint, the police have informed that a case will be registered in the incident. A case has also been registered against Mathew on the complaint of peeping into a house.
