CHENNAI: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has kept his promise. The chief minister has decided to give a government job to one family member of Karur victims. He has decided to give a job to one family member each of the 41 people who died in the stampede during the election rally of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The chief minister will personally hand over the appointment order to them.
There are also reports that Vijay may visit Karur on July 10 and 11. This is his first visit after taking charge as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. He had met the relatives of the dead at a resort in Mahabalipuram before the elections. He had also assured the relatives that he would be with them.
The shocking incident happened in Tamil Nadu on September 27, 2025. A large crowd thronged Karur to attend Vijay's campaign rally. Vijay was seven hours late to reach the venue. As soon as his convoy arrived, the crowd tried to rush forward together and 41 people lost their lives in the stampede.
