ABVP retains three key posts in Delhi University polls, independent candidate wins Vice-President seat

NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) retained three key positions, including the president's post, in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, winning three of the four central posts. ABVP's Yash Dabas defeated NSUI's Vijay Shankar Meena in a closely fought contest to become president. Riya Chhawdi was elected secretary, while Lakshya Raj Singh won the joint secretary's post, allowing the ABVP to retain all three positions.

The vice-president's post, however, went to Deepanshu Shokeen, a former NSUI member who contested as an independent candidate. Shokeen's victory gave an independent candidate one of the four central posts.

The university administration had directed winning candidates and their supporters not to hold victory rallies following the results, in accordance with a Delhi High Court order barring victory processions.
ABVP also won all four key posts at several colleges, including Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bharati College and Shivaji College.
