KOCHI: YouTube removed the channel of Nihad, popularly known in cyberspace as Thoppi, after a case was registered against him for sharing obscene content on social media. The action was based on a report given by the police.
The police had earlier registered a case against YouTuber Thoppi in the case of sharing obscene images on social media. The case was registered under the IT Act, and the investigation was conducted by the Aluva Rural Cyber Police. An investigation was also conducted against Thoppi on complaints such as drug use, pornography, POCSO, and sexual exploitation.
The Ernakulam Rural Police filed a report opposing Thoppi’s anticipatory bail in the case. The report states the YouTuber is involved in a serious crime, and bail should not be granted.
Following a split with his former friends, the YouTuber sought revenge by releasing nude footage of his friends while going live on YouTube. The video was viewed by lakhs. After the footage was widely circulated and discussed, Thoppi’s former associates filed a complaint with the police.
