Two killed, 10 injured in tempo traveller-tipper lorry collision in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: Two people were killed after a tempo traveller and a tipper lorry collided at Kondotty in Malappuram Saturday early morning at around 1:30 am. The dead have been identified as Rajesh of Vadavannur in Palakkad, the driver of the traveller and Ramani (60) of Murkashamkunnu in Palakkad.


Ten people were injured in the accident. The condition of five is stated to be critical. They have been admitted at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The traveller was going to Kottiyoor from Palakkad and the tipper lorry was going to Malappuram from Kozhikode. There were 27 people in the traveller and three in the lorry.


The front of the traveller was completely destroyed in the impact of the collision. One died on the spot and the second in the hospital. The cause of the accident is not clear. The rescue operations were carried out jointly by the locals, police and fire force.
