THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former DGP and Vattiyoorkavu councillor R Sreelekha has accused the makers of Dridam and Bhoothakaalam, both starring Shane Nigam, of plagiarising her stories. She alleged that Dridam was based on her short story Karinkudi Police Station. She revealed this via a Facebook post.
Her post said
‘I saw the film Dridam. Since it was a police story and getting the opportunity to see it, watched it coincidentally. There would be no mistake in saying that its core story was stolen from my short story Karinkudi Police Station, which was published years ago in Mathrubhumi Weekly.
I have also narrated this story as an audio story on my YouTube channel. For those who haven't read it, the link is below.

Similarly, Bhoothakaalam, an award-winning film, was made by stealing an experience-based story I had narrated on my YouTube channel three years ago. I had titled that story Bhootha Bhavanam. See that also.

There is another connection between these two films--both have Shane Nigam in the lead role! I have liked this young actor ever since I watched Parava. The reason is that he resembles a police officer who worked with me and whom I regarded as a younger brother, especially in the police uniform seen in Dridam.
That officer was Mohammed, who often gifted me mango saplings from his home and pure honey and ghee.
