PATHANAMTHITTA: Reports say CPM leader A Padmakumar, accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, will not make any disclosures in the near future. The reason for this is that the party action has been limited to suspension. Padmakumar had earlier said that he would reveal the role of prominent party members in the Sabarimala gold theft and other secrets through his autobiography. Many leaders in Pathanamthitta have assessed that this was a pressure tactic. Majority of the leaders are dissatisfied with the softening of action against Padmakumar. Meantime, it is reported that Padmakumar has accepted the party action.

CPM not taking action against Padmakumar even when jailed had raised serious doubts. The reason for protecting him was asked. No charge sheet has been filed in the case. The state leadership had replied that Padmakumar could not be found guilty till then. This was also discussed in the review meetings held after the poll debacle. The state leadership then instructed the district leadership to take action.

Meantime, senior leaders have explained that the autobiography revelations have not affected the party's action, and the CPM is of the view that further decisions on Padmakumar's suspension will be taken after the charge sheet is filed. Party sources said that action will be taken considering the seriousness of the crime committed.
