Mohanlal remembers Salim Kumar; ‘My good friend both on and off screen’

Actor Mohanlal shared an emotional note remembering veteran actor Salim Kumar, who passed away while undergoing treatment. In a Facebook post, Mohanlal described Salim Kumar as a dear friend who portrayed many characters making us laugh and think at the same time. He was a good friend of mine both on and off screen. Salim Kumar was not only a gifted artist who won a national award but also a person known for his innocence, compassion, and willingness to help others. He recalled acting alongside him in many films.


He also praised Salim Kumar's social awareness, saying that he consistently observed social issues and expressed his opinions openly and responsibly. Concluding the note, Mohanlal paid his respects to his late friend with deep sorrow.

Salim Kumar passed away at a private hospital in Kochi while undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments. He was admitted for dialysis, during which his blood pressure reportedly dropped, leading to a heart attack. He was later placed on ventilator support. His treatment was further complicated after cancer was detected in his lungs.
Born on October 10, 1969, in Chittattukara near Paravur in Ernakulam, Salim Kumar was the youngest son of Gangadharan and Kausalya. He is survived by his wife Sunitha and sons Chandu and Aromal. His funeral is scheduled to take place at his residence in Paravur this evening.
