LLB Entrance Exam to be conducted in Malayalam as well, says Minister Roji M John 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major change is beinbg witnessed in the law entrance examinations in Kerala. From the next academic year, LLB entrance exams will be conducted bilingually in Malayalam and English, with the government approving the move. The decision has been taken in view of students’ needs and the language policy promoting the use of the mother tongue. The major decision follows a directive by Higher Education Minister Roji M John to make LLB entrance examination questions available in Malayalam as well. The move was initiated based on a memorandum submitted by the Malayalam Aikya Vedi.

The decision to make the examination available in Malayalam was taken after addressing technical challenges related to the process. To ensure the accuracy of question paper translations and maintain the confidentiality of the examination, the authorities will consider measures such as forming a panel of experts with legal knowledge and making use of modern software systems. The entrance examination will be conducted in a manner that ensures accuracy and reliability. The prospectus will also include a provision stating that the English version of a question will be treated as final in the event of any discrepancy in meaning or ambiguity in the translation.

The opportunity to take the examination in Malayalam is expected to bring considerable relief to Malayalam-speaking students aspiring to pursue legal studies. Minister Roji M John said the move to introduce bilingual question papers is part of efforts to make the entrance examination more student-friendly without compromising its quality.
