KANNUR LANDSLIDE

KANNUR: Heavy rains caused a landslide in Palchuram, Kannur, on Tuesday. With this, traffic on the Kottiyoor Boys Town Road, which connects Kannur and Wayanad districts, was completely blocked.

The landslide occurred near the Palchuram Chekuthan Road at around 9 am. Vehicles passing through this road escaped the disaster by a whisker. The road is under the Road Fund Board. Steps are underway to remove the stones and soil debris from the area.

Following the landslide, the District Collector has directed that travellers heading to Kannur and Wayanad should use the Thalassery-Bavali interstate highway.
