Kalamassery gangrape: 15 women called for interview, more victims suspected

KOCHI: More information has emerged in the Kalamassery gangrape case. The police have found that the mastermind, Sreeraj of Alappuzha, had called more women for interviews by promising them jobs in the spa. Crucial information regarding this was obtained from the two mobile phones seized from him.

The information is that the investigation team has collected the list of fifteen women called by him. An investigation will be conducted on whether more women have fallen victim to this brutality. The finding is that women were summoned under the pretext of an interview with bad intent. The survivor in this case was also summoned in a similar manner and subjected to gangrape. Therefore, the police have decided to expand the investigation into the case.

The investigation team will directly approach and question the 15 women who were on the list in detail. The police clarified that a racket, operating under the guise of a spa, was supplying women to clients. Reports say the police have initiated procedures to freeze the bank accounts of the accused as well as the spas they were operating.

Sreeraj, Jith Martin, Saranya, and Sanju are those arrested in the case. The survivor had identified them yesterday. In her statement to the police, she told police that she was brutally subjected to sexual abuse by a group including Saranya alias Ammu. Based on her statement that she was abused after being drugged, the police have initiated an investigation into the accused goonda connections and the source of the drugs. There are hints that more suspects may be arrested in the case.
