Heavy rain continues; Motorist dies after big tree falls on him in Thrissur 

THRISSUR: A motorist died after a tree fell on him in the heavy rains. The incident happened in Kodungallur. The dead is Manikandan of Blaha Illam in Karumathra. The accident happened at Pozhankavu on the Sreenarayanapuram-Pandinjare Vemballur Road.

A huge Gulmohar tree standing on the roadside uprooted in the heavy rain. Manikandan, who fell under the tree, died instantly. He had attended in the Machad Mamangam Paraeduppu as the image of Bhagavathy for 30 years. Now his brother takes the role.

Rain has been intensifying in many places in the state since last night. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning due to the continuous heavy rain. A yellow alert has been declared in Karamana and Manimala Rivers following the rise in water levels. It has been advised not to enter the river or cross it.
