KALADY: Vice Chancellor Ciza Thomas said SFI activists who staged protests at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit the other day assaulted her and damaged her official vehicle. She said legal action would be taken for damaging her official vehicle. The VC’s response comes amid controversy over SFI activists conducting a symbolic funeral procession for her while a Syndicate meeting was underway.

The VC said that some of the protesters pulled her by her hair and scratched her. She sustained scratches and injuries on her body. However, she said she does not intend to file a complaint over the assault. As it was already very late after she finished her work, she did not stay back for a medical examination.

Students who have been at the university since 2019 have not received their degree certificates. She questioned why the protesters had not raised the issue all these years. She said steps are presently being taken to issue the certificates.
