THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The examination scheduled for August 21 has been rescheduled in view of Onam celebrations. The Education Department has postponed the Class VIII examination scheduled for the day.
Onam celebrations have been planned at most schools in the state on August 21. Students had expressed concern over the examination and celebrations being held on the same day. The decision to postpone the Class VIII examination was taken in view of the demand for its postponement. The examination will now be held on September 1, after the Onam vacation.
Earlier, the Malayalam Paper II examination for Class VIII students, scheduled for August 20, had been moved to August 21. The timetable was revised following criticism that conducting examinations for students of Classes VIII, IX and X simultaneously would create practical difficulties. The decision to hold the Class VIII examination on the day of the Onam celebrations was part of that timetable revision. However, the examination was postponed again following strong criticism.
