‘Wangchuk’s life is precious for this country, protests will continue till Pradhan resigns’

NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke expressed relief after social activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike staged in protest against the irregularities in the NEET exam. However, he said the strike staged for the students at Jantar Mantar will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. Dipke thanked Wangchuk for his strike in the post shared on X Friday morning.

‘We are relieved and grateful that Sonam sir has ended his hunger strike after 26 days. Thank you, sir, for your extraordinary courage and sacrifice. By putting your own life on the line, you awakened the conscience of an entire nation. Your life is far too precious to this country.

The Cockroach Janta Party’s peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns,’ wrote Dipke.

He also clarified that the agitation does not end with Wangchuk ending his hunger strike. Wangchuk had gone on an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the irregularities in the NEET exam and the stand taken by the central government on the issue. Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike in the presence of Union Ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. He said that he decided to end the strike after long discussions with the government.

‘The 26-day hunger strike was ended in the presence of Union Ministers J P Nadda, Dr Jitendra Singh and senior leaders of the Leh Ladakh Apex Body. Earlier 65 MPs from various political parties had visited or signed letters urging me to break the fast. This was done after long negotiations on various conditions and in view of possible violence in the country. I will explain the conditions in detail in a separate video very soon. Meanwhile I urge you all to stay very vigilant about not allowing violence of any kind anywhere,’ Wangchuk posted on X.
