
CHENNAI: Kerala was criticized in the first customary address of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government led by C Joseph Vijay in Tamil Nadu after assuming office. The TVK government reacted against Kerala on the issue related to the Mullaperiyar dam. The TVK government clarified that it will not allow a new dam and will block the efforts of the Kerala government. In the first customary address, Tamil Nadu was of the stand that if Kerala tries to build a new dam, they will strongly oppose it.
Before the policy speech, Tamil Thai songs were sung first and then the national anthem. Singing Vande Mataram was completely omitted. The customary address was delivered by Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar, who is also in charge of Tamil Nadu. The Governor began his speech by congratulating the new members. In his speech, he clarified that TVK is a party beyond caste, religion and money.
The Governor also mentioned the names of Periyar, Annadurai and Ambedkar in his speech. He said Tamil Nadu has a government that is uncompromising on violence against women. The Governor strongly criticized the DMK, saying that the previous government did not stop the flow of drugs and that this was the reason for the increase in crimes. The Governor, who also read the criticism against the Center, said in his speech that the bilingual policy will continue and that he will strongly oppose the national education policy.
