DUBAI: Captain Smit Machchhar, who was injured in an attack by the co-pilot on a Flydubai flight, has been brought to the UAE for further treatment. Machchhar has undergone emergency surgery, and his condition is satisfactory. Indian Ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal and Dubai Consul General Dr Vishnuvardhan Reddy visited Machchhar and his family at the hospital in the UAE, assuring them of the government's full support.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Machchhar for his unmatched valour that saved the lives of more than 140 passengers. PM Modi praised the immense courage and determination Smit displayed in saving the lives of others despite sustaining serious injuries. PM Modi wrote on X that Smit's bravery saved hundreds of lives and averted a major tragedy, adding that India is proud of him. He also wished Smit a speedy recovery and prayed for his strength and well-being.
