DHAKA: A retired Hindu schoolteacher and his family were found dead at home in mysterious circumstances in Rangpur city in Bangladesh. The police said they are giving high priority to the case. As per reports, the police entered the house in Machhuapara locality at 11 30 pm on Saturday and found the bodies.

Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty (65); his wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, 50; their daughter, Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 23; and their son, Priyam Chakraborty, 12 were found dead in the incident. Agami completed her master's in literature while Priyam was a class 5 student.

On Thursday night, the mobile phones of all three members of the family were suspiciously turned off. The relatives tried contacting them but to no avail. The family, along with the police, reached the house, which was locked from outside. When they barged in, the bodies were found in separate locations.

The relatives are in shock over the news, as many couldn’t comprehend what motivated anyone to commit such a gruesome crime against an affable man and his family. After retiring from school, Ganapati was working as a homoeopathic practitioner.

Rangpur Metropolitan CID doubts that all of them were strangled to death by an intruder and a gang. The deaths happened during the midnight hours of Thursday and Friday. Pritilata and Agami’s bodies were found on the staircase, while Priyam's body was found underneath a bed. Ganapati’s body was lying on the roof.
